Is it trueCBI gives clean chit to pigs in Swine Flu case
Saturday, June 13, 2009 CBI gives clean chit to pigs in Swine Flu case Report by Pagal Patrakar New Delhi. Cell Biology and Immunology (CBI) department of AIIMS has given clean chit to pigs in Swine Flu cases across the world. The department has found out that the present outbreak of Swine Flu has got nothing to do with any swine i.e. pig, as no confirmed case of transmittance of H1N1 virus from a pig to any human being has been registered till now. The group has heavily criticized media for maligning pigs by calling the disease ‘Swine Flu’ and has suggested replacing the term by ‘American Flu’. “This is really shocking. The disease started in American continent, especially in Mexico, among human beings and spread to other parts of the world through human beings only, still the media called it ‘Swine’ Flu! Not a single pig is down with this flu; in fact farmers are worried that their pigs might get this flu from human beings. The world owes an apology to pigs.” CBI press release told. The disclosure by CBI has been welcomed by pork-eaters and pig farmers. Farmers have asked the government to take steps so that pigs don’t get flu from men. Government has been unable to provide any information as there has been a confusion among Ministries of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Health & Nutrition, and Rural Development for taking full responsibility for prevention and cure. The confusion got even messier with involvement of Ministries of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) and Information Technology (IT). While I&B ministry is supposed to tell the Indian news channels and newspapers to stop using the term ‘Swine Flu’ form now onwards, IT ministry got a fax from Health ministry to install an AntiVirus for H1N1 virus. Such inaction and confusion by the government has come under sharp attack from opposition parties with the main opposition party BJP accusing the UPA government led by Congress of conniving in a conspiracy to malign pigs to appease those who think pigs are unclean and eating pork is sin. Congress has rubbished BJP’s claim and has hit back by asking what BJP did when cows were maligned through mad-cow disease. Apart from BJP, communist parties too have accused the government of being a party to an ugly conspiracy, although the left parties didn’t think it a conspiracy to appease pork-haters. Communist parties believe that the latest disease was called ‘Swine Flu’ instead of ‘American Flu’ to save the name and fame of the USA. Communist parties have decided to start a mass awareness campaign against the UPA government’s servile attitude do the USA.

Critical Alert The Swine Flu Pandemic – Fact or Fiction
Critical Alert: The Swine Flu Pandemic – Fact or Fiction? American health officials declared a public health emergency as cases of swine flu were confirmed in the U.S. Health officials across the world fear this could be the leading edge of a global pandemic emerging from Mexico, where seven people are confirmed dead as a result of the new virus. On Monday April 27th, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised its pandemic alert level to four on its six-level threat scale,1 which means they've determined that the virus is capable of human-to-human transmission. The initial outbreaks across North America reveal an infection already traveling at higher velocity than did the last official pandemic strain, the 1968 Hong Kong flu. The number of fatalities, and suspected and confirmed cases across the world change depending on the source, so your best bet -- if you want the latest numbers -- is to use Google Maps' Swine Flu Tracker. Several nations have imposed travel bans, or made plans to quarantine air travelers2 that present symptoms of the swine flu, such as: Fever of more than 100 Coughing Runny nose and/or sore throat Joint aches Severe headache Vomiting and/or diarrhea Lethargy Lack of appetite Top global flu experts are trying to predict how dangerous the new swine flu strain will be, as it became clear that they had little information about Mexico's outbreak. It is as yet unclear how many cases occurred in the month or so before the outbreak was detected. It's also unknown whether the virus was mutating to be more lethal, or less. Much Fear Mongering Being Promoted I suspect you have likely been alarmed by the media's coverage of the swine flu scare. It has a noticeable subplot - preparing you for draconian measures to combat a future pandemic as well as forcing you to accept the idea of mandatory vaccinations. On April 27, Time magazine published an article which discusses how dozens died and hundreds were injured from vaccines as a result of the 1976 swine flu fiasco, when the Ford administration attempted to use the infection of soldiers at Fort Dix as a pretext for a mass vaccination of the entire country. Despite acknowledging that the 1976 farce was an example of “how not to handle a flu outbreak”, the article still introduces the notion that officials “may soon have to consider whether to institute draconian measures to combat the disease”. WHO and CDC Pandemic Preparedness Seriously Broken The pandemic warning system has failed as it simply doesn't exist, even in North America and Europe. To improve the system, massive new investments in surveillance, scientific and regulatory infrastructure, basic public health, and global access to common sense interventions like vitamin D optimization are required. According to the Washington Post, the CDC did not learn about the outbreak until six days after Mexico had begun to impose emergency measures. There should be no excuses. The paradox of this swine flu panic is that, while totally unexpected, it was accurately predicted. Six years ago, Science dedicated a major story to evidence that "after years of stability, the North American swine flu virus has jumped onto an evolutionary fasttrack". However, maybe this is precisely what public health authorities desire. This is NOT the First Swine Flu Panic My guess is that you can expect to see a lot of panic over this issue in the near future. But the key is to remain calm -- this isn't the first time the public has been warned about swine flu. The last time was in 1976, right before I entered medical school and I remember it very clearly. It resulted in the massive swine flu vaccine campaign. Do you happen to recall the result of this massive campaign? Within a few months, claims totaling $1.3 billion had been filed by victims who had suffered paralysis from the vaccine. The vaccine was also blamed for 25 deaths. However, several hundred people developed crippling Guillain-Barré Syndrome after they were injected with the swine flu vaccine. Even healthy 20-year-olds ended up as paraplegics. And the swine flu pandemic itself? It never materialized. More People Died From the Swine Flu Vaccine than Swine Flu! It is very difficult to forecast a pandemic, and a rash response can be extremely damaging. As of Monday April 27, the worldwide total number of confirmed cases was 82, according to WHO, which included 40 cases in the U.S., confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control. But does that truly warrant the feverish news headlines? To put things into perspective, malaria kills 3,000 people EVERY DAY, and it's considered "a health problem"... But of course, there are no fancy vaccines for malaria that can rake in billions of dollars in a short amount of time. One Australian news source,3 for example, states that even a mild swine flu epidemic could lead to the deaths of 1.4 million people and would reduce e The rest of this article can be read from http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/04/28/Swine-Flu.aspx

swine fluscared or is this an attempt to raise prices of pork billions of people less than 200 cases
Influenza A(H1N1) - update 5 29 April 2009 -- The situation continues to evolve rapidly. As of 18:00 GMT, 29 April 2009, nine countries have officially reported 148 cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection. The United States Government has reported 91 laboratory confirmed human cases, with one death. Mexico has reported 26 confirmed human cases of infection including seven deaths. The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (13), Germany (3), Israel (2), New Zealand (3), Spain (4) and the United Kingdom (5). Further information on the situation will be available on the WHO website on a regular basis. WHO advises no restriction of regular travel or closure of borders. It is considered prudent for people who are ill to delay international travel and for people developing symptoms following international travel to seek medical attention, in line with guidance from national authorities. There is also no risk of infection from this virus from consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products. Individuals are advised to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water on a regular basis and should seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness.

Has anyone else noticed that it is really hard to find detailed information about swine flu in New York State
I live in New York State and they are using the term "confirmed cases." They are telling people to stay home if they feel sick, and only to go seek medical care if it gets really bad. So how do we know how far spread it really is? Then they say Americans aren't as badly effected as Mexico, but it hasn't been here as long as it has been there. They are telling us that you can't catch it from eating properly cooked pork. They don't say if you can get it from touching raw pork and then getting the germs in our eye nose or mouth. I have 2 kids and it seems crazy to buy something crawling with flu, cooking out the flu, then feeding it to my kids. I would rather live of canned food personally. All my local news is saying "swine flu across the country" as if it is not more dangerous for residents of New York right now. Then I go to Canada news and they say that in New York we are taking precautions. Febuary is national preparedness month and we were all told that we should have a few boxes of food in case of an emergency. But at the same time, most people didn't use their money for that sort of stuff because we have been so complacent here in the U.S. Instead, as soon as they get sick, they go grocery shopping. A lot of people I talk to aren't worried about it because they are in an age group that is less likely to be negatively affected. But what about all the babies and elderly people in the world? God/Mother Nature is trying to tell us something obviously. And I personally care more about my children than the 20 bucks a day that the school earns for my kids being there. I care more about my children than I care about the pork farmers who, through unethical practices, put these pigs in a position that compromised THE PIGS immune system badly enough to foster this sort of virus. The say they will close the school if there is one confirmed case, but that takes a week of incubation and a dna test. Why not just give the kids a week off and call it good? They had no problem doing that for Febuary break then April break. Or at least make it optional for parents to keep their kids home if they want without it reflecting on absenteeism lists. People seem to think because we are American, nothing bad can happen to us. We know the media is dramatizing everything so much that we aren't even taking it seriously. But at the same time, the media is playing with words to tell the truth in a way that is misleading. Like talk about "confirmed cases." Maybe if the media and the government stopped talking down to it's citizens like we were 5 year olds, then we would stop acting like it.

Does anyone else think this is great news
Check out: http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/CT-Company-Making-Swine-Flu-Vaccine.html With swine flu spreading in Mexico and reaching 50 cases in the United States, health officials are racing to stop the new flu strain and the solution could be in a Connecticut lab. A vaccine could be available in a few weeks. Scientists at Protein Sciences in Meriden is looking at cells that could be the key to a swine flu vaccine The work has been going on for only a few days, but the company has been involved in pandemic viruses for years, CEO Dan Adams said, The Federal Drug Administration approved the company's H5N1 Hong Kong "Bird Flu" vaccine in 1998 and it was immediately given to about 200 health care workers and researchers. When the word of the swine flu started to spread, Protein Sciences was already working with a top researcher in Mexico, where 149 Mexicans have died from the swine flu and hundreds of others have become ill. "She's been able to provide us with a lot of information that may be even better than what we're getting from our sources in the United States," Adams said. Unlike other drug manufacturers, Protein Sciences doesn't need the live swine flu virus to create the vaccine. Instead, it uses the virus' genetic code to create a highly purified protein that is mixed with salt water to make the vaccine. “We have the genetic code and, if we had nothing else, we could develop the vaccine from that. But the CDC is providing us with additional information that will make it easier for us, and a little less risky, in the sense that we want to make the right product,” Adams said. Scientists are hoping to get that information from the Centers for Disease Control within the next few days. Meanwhile, work on the vaccine has already begun and they hope to have a swine flu vaccine being tested in the Quality Control Laboratory in about six weeks. “We, at six weeks, would be vastly faster than any other people who are in the flu field,” Adams said. “I thought immediately when I started seeing the news about the swine flu Friday, that we should begin building a vaccine and be prepared,” Jason Hollister, a molecular biologist working on the project, said. “This could fizzle out or it may boil up. No one knows at that point yet.” 6 weeks to a vaccine. Sounds great to me. I knew modern biotechnology could do better than 5-6 months. This is the 21st century after all. Thanks Bill Yep it is credible. That company has been around for yonks. That six months is using antiquated technology that has well and truly been superceded. People in Australia where I live claim they can do it in 10 weeks. As good as we are here in Aus we do not have the resources of US companies, so it is no surprise they can do it even quicker. Although I gave Ruth B my thumbs up for adding some balance to the news the issue is is the risk of the vaccine creator than the risk of a pandemic. I really don't know. What gives me hope is we this this weapon available in quicker time than previously thought should it be required.
